Abstract
Initially, it was believed that the benign partial epilepsies in childhood left no cognitive or behavioral sequelae and that their management was easy. But over time, were found other types of crises that are accompanied by cognitive and behavioral changes, which have been described as atypical benign focal epilepsies in childhood.
The present paper is a review of the literature about these disorders and it describes the pathophisiology, clinical features, electroencephalographic findings, and evolution of the different types of atypical benign partial epilepsy in childhood.
