Abstract
Perinatal asphyxia is a clinic entity which has multisistemic repercution. The kidney may be compromised in a 12% of patients, and can appear as an acute renal failure. The first clinical case is a newborn product of a gemelar pregnancy, female, in a podalic presentation. She presented macroscopic hematuria and creatinine levels of 3,7 mg/dl. Furthermore a septic state was appreciated. After that she presented delay in a psychomotor development and focal crisis that no respond to medication. A MRI was wade at seven old months who a shown multiquistic encephalophy. The second case is a male subject whith home delivery and prolonged labor who developed focal motor crisis, icteric mucous and sepsis. Along his hospital stay, an oligury state was detected with creatinine levels was 1,1 mg/dl. A CT scan showed hypodence zones in both cerebral hemispheres that compromised gray and white substances. Actually presents normal psychomotor development, no focal crisis and has no medication. The principal point to predict recuperation of renal failure is asphyxia. Neurological sequels have been relationed to renal compromise as it is shown in these two cases (Acta Neurol Colomb 2005;21:163-169).
