Abstract
Migraine and tension-type headache share many of the symptoms, precipitating factors, epidemiologycal aspects, and both have good response to triptans; all of that makes difficult to distinguish between these two types of headaches, and sometimes an accurate diagnosis cannot be established, since there is a overlap of symptoms.
Because of this, it is considered that these two types of headaches share similar phatophysiological mechanisms, such as neurogenic inflammation, central neuronal copromise and sensibilization to pain; which could be explained by the convergence between trigeminal and cervical fibers.
